Program Statistics

Since its inception, the Main Street program has tracked project funding and statistics to serve as performance benchmarks, to be accountable to funding agencies, and to acknowledge the vital contributions of project partners at local, provincial and federal levels. Statistics are compiled using data provided by project communities and are as much a testament to local communities’ dedication to preservation and revitalization as they are of the program’s achievements.

As of the end of March 31, 2005, the program’s latest fiscal year, the Alberta Main Street Program had invested $8.6 million in twenty-three project communities and contributed to a total of over $30 million invested in Alberta’s main streets through local, municipal, provincial and federal sources combined. Since its inception, the Main Street program has assisted in a total of 474 building rehabilitation projects and 487 signs.
